What You Need to Know About CoverME.

Even if you’re happy with your plan, it’s a good idea to review your coverage each year. Plans and prices can change, and you might qualify for new savings—especially if your income or household size has changed.

Here are a few important things to keep in mind for the upcoming Open Enrollment:

  • If you enroll between December 16, 2025, and January 15, 2026, your coverage will begin February 1, 2026.

  • Starting in 2026 (for 2027 coverage), the Open Enrollment deadline will shift to December 15 in many states—including Maine. This change won’t affect enrollment for 2026 coverage, but it’s a good idea to plan ahead for future years.

  • The enhanced federal tax credits that have helped lower monthly premiums are currently set to expire at the end of 2025, unless Congress extends them. That means some members may see higher premiums in 2026.

If you're already enrolled through CoverME.gov, keep an eye out this fall—notifications will be sent to update you on any changes to your savings or costs.

⚡️ Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs)

Life happens. If you experience a qualifying life event, you may be eligible to enroll outside of Open Enrollment. Some common examples include:

  • Losing health coverage (job loss, aging off a parent’s plan, COBRA ending)

  • Changes in household (marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child)

  • Moving to a new area

  • Changes in income

  • Gaining immigration status or becoming a U.S. citizen

Generally, you have 60 days from the date of the event to enroll.

Not sure if your situation qualifies? That’s what we’re here for.r

Life changes—and so can your insurance needs.

Maybe you’ve recently left a job. Maybe you’re self-employed. Maybe you're working part-time or just need coverage for yourself or your family. No matter your situation, figuring out health insurance can feel overwhelming.

That’s where Maine’s health insurance marketplace—CoverME.gov—comes in.

What is CoverME.gov?

When can I enroll?

You can shop and enroll through CoverME.gov once a year and is your chance to review your options and sign up for a new plan—or make changes to your current one.

For 2026 coverage, Open Enrollment is expected to begin December 15, 2025 and run through January 15, 2026. (We’ll share updates as soon as official dates are confirmed.)
