If you’re planning travel, now’s a great time to check in. Let’s make sure your Medicare plan supports your plans—wherever they take you.

Have questions? Let’s talk it through.

Just give us a call!

Let’s Talk About Your Medicare Coverage. We wish there were a simple yes-or-no answer, but coverage often depends on the type of Medicare plan you have and where you're headed.

Traveling Within the U.S.

  • Original Medicare typically covers emergency care anywhere in the U.S. and its territories, but keep in mind that you may need to go home after you’re released from the hospital in order to have your after-care covered

  • Medicare Advantage plans often include nationwide coverage, but the rules about in-network vs. out-of-network care can affect your costs.

  • Know the difference between Urgent Care and Emergency care; urgent care clinic visits may be covered under your plan. If so, they could save you precious time and money for non-emergency care.

➡️ Before you go: Review your plan’s travel policy or give your plan provider a call

Traveling Outside the U.S.?

This is where things can get a little tricky.

  • Original Medicare doesn’t generally cover care outside the U.S.

  • Some Medigap (Supplement) plans may include limited emergency foreign travel coverage.

  • Medicare Advantage plans vary widely—some may offer global emergency benefits, others may not.

➡️ Be sure to confirm exactly what’s included in your plan before leaving the country. You may also want to consider a separate travel insurance policy for extra peace of mind.

A Final Thought

Your Medicare benefits should bring you peace of mind, not more stress.

If something feels off — or even if you just have a quick question — please reach out.
